Hello CISV Pittsburgh Families,
We hope this finds you all well and that you are staying safe during this pandemic.
This has been a challenging year. It was difficult enough to absorb the loss of 2020 programming, but now we have learned that programs for 2021 have been cancelled as well.
One of the great things about CISV is the many layers of planning and preparation that goes into providing the highest quality programming. Whether it is a Village, Seminar, or even a Fortnight, many months and even years of work are required to secure venues, train leaders, organize committees, etc.
During this time of great uncertainty, it is not possible to take these steps to host programs, or plan for international travel for children in 2021.
On top of this comes the financial hardship that the organization faces. International programming is the lifeblood of CISV, and while not the only activity we offer, it is a key aspect to our financial sustainability.
It is with that in mind that many of you have received a message from CISV USA asking for your support via an annual Membership Drive. This is something that we implore you to participate in as soon as possible.
Before the pandemic began, the gears were in motion to create a more unified and consistent approach to tracking membership within CISV. The Membership Drive is a way that each individual at a level of $25 or family at $50 can support both CISV USA and CISV Pittsburgh Chapter. A portion of your membership to CISV USA will go to our chapter.
Membership is not just for families with children who currently have the goal to travel when we return to “normal.” Volunteers, alumni, and families who are part of the extended CISV Pittsburgh network are encouraged to become members and support this great organization.
This year has challenged us in many ways, and this is our chance to be resilient. As a chapter, we are seeking creative ways to gather virtually. Zoom meetings and an online game night are already being planned as we reach the colder winter months. We encourage you to participate and stay connected to CISV Pittsburgh.
TOGETHER we will keep this chapter going strong, so that the next generation of Villagers may learn energizers and lullabies. TOGETHER we will ensure that the lines of communication stay open. TOGETHER we will emerge from this pandemic prepared to recover and rebuild.
We hope you all stay safe as we approach the holiday season. We ask that you all take care of yourselves and know that we, the Board, will work hard to #DriveCISV and, along with our amazing Junior Branch, keep engagement as meaningful and active as we can.
We wish you a safe and peaceful holiday season.
