CISV, founded in 1950, offers international programs for youth ages 11 – 17 that educate and inspire action for a more just and peaceful world, foster cross-cultural friendships and teach empathy and leadership skills that last a lifetime.

CISV Pittsburgh was founded in 1989 and has provided over 900 youth the opportunity to participate in CISV programs worldwide. Our chapter is one of 26 chapters across the country that make up CISV USA, which is a member of CISV International with 69 countries and 200 chapters across the globe.
Our local community of dedicated volunteers, consisting of families and individuals, donates their time and creativity to run our chapter, mentor our Junior Branch, provide support for local activities, and host international programs.
They all share a common goal of creating experiences where youth and adults learn to break stereotypes, make friends and develop skills to build bridges across cultures. Our work wouldn’t be possible if it were not for these committed volunteers who offer their time in running our activities and operations at all levels of our organization.
CISV Pittsburgh meets every first Sunday of the month (except during the summer). Our meetings include separate content for adults and youth, although some meetings provide CISV educational content for the entire group.
We work together to bring CISV principles of human rights, sustainability, conflict resolution, and diversity to Pittsburgh by organizing various service activities within the community and with community partners. Check out our events calendar for more information.
