For this year’s National Service Project, CISV Pittsburgh is having a Spanish-language book drive to benefit Casa San Jose, a local Latinx community center and advocacy group. The books will be donated to families and adults, but mainly to children that participate in their youth group (ages 3-13). They are asking for a variety of donations, including novels for teens and adults, cookbooks, and children’s books.
We have partnered with Spanish Publishers, which has offered CISV a discount of 20% and a reduced shipping rate on one bulk order. We encourage you to order the Spanish-language books through us. If you are interested in participating in the bulk order, you can email our NSP Leader, Sofia Llovet-Nava, at sofiallovetnava1@gmail.com. Please pick books from the Spanish Publisher’s website, then email Sofia your book titles, your name, and phone number in the email. We will contact you with the final price with discount and the shipping cost factored in.
You can then pay via Venmo (@Sofia-Llovet-Nava) or check. Please make any checks payable to Sally Nava, and bring them to the April chapter meeting or send them to: 1429 Denniston St. Pittsburgh, PA 15217.
We will accept titles for the bulk order until Thursday, March 12. However, you are more than welcome to purchase Spanish-language books independently and bring them to 1429 Denniston St. Pittsburgh, PA 15217 by March 20.
Although the date is not confirmed, we are in the process of organizing a “Read with Me” event with the Casa San Jose Youth group to encourage reading! Everyone can bring their favorite children’s book (in English or Spanish) to read with the kids and then bring back home. More information on this event will be sent out as soon as we confirm the date.
It’s a great opportunity to celebrate reading and community-building with a wonderful Like-Minded Organization. We hope that you can join us! If you have any questions, please email sofiallovetnava1@gmail.com.
