CISV, founded in 1950, offers international programs for youth ages 11 – 17 that educate and inspire action for a more just and peaceful world, foster cross-cultural friendships and teach empathy and leadership skills that last a lifetime.
Since 1989, CISV Pittsburgh has provided more than 900 young people with opportunities to participate in CISV programs worldwide. Our chapter is one of 26 across the United States that make up CISV USA, part of CISV International’s network of 200 chapters spanning 69 countries.
Our local community of dedicated volunteers—families and individuals alike—donates their time and creativity to run our chapter, mentor our Junior Branch, support local activities, and host international programs. They share a common goal: creating experiences where youth and adults learn to break down stereotypes, build friendships, and develop skills to bridge cultures.
None of this work would be possible without our committed volunteers who dedicate their time to activities and operations at every level of our organization.
CISV Pittsburgh hosts monthly events throughout the year (except summer). Our gatherings include programming tailored for adults and youth separately, though some meetings offer CISV educational content for everyone together.
