Hello current and past CISV Pittsburghers,
We would like to make you aware of the status of CISV Pittsburgh.
Since the pandemic, when CISV suspended programs in 2020 and 2021, we have seen a dramatic drop in members as delegates aged out of CISV and few new families joining the chapter. Our current board of directors has many vacancies, and the terms for several of them will end in 2024.
Last year, we sent 10 delegates to international programs, while only nine participated this summer, down from 40 or more delegates per year prior to 2020.
While we are hopeful that these new delegates and their families will remain active, we now have few volunteers to carry out essential duties such as recruiting new families, leading delegations, hosting international programs in Pittsburgh and fundraising.
We want to ensure the legacy of CISV Pittsburgh lives on. If we are unable to grow our chapter, our board of directors may need to make the difficult decision of shutting down the chapter, which would be incredibly sad since CISV Pittsburgh has been in existence since 1989.
Today, we are putting out a call to action for new candidates for the board, volunteers for our committees and new members and families for the chapter.
Here’s what we need: Co-President, Risk Manager, and chairs for the Recruitment, Fundraising, Selection and Communications committees. We also need volunteers for these committees and events.
We would not be sending this email if we did not feel that the situation was dire. We appreciate all and any support, and we look forward to hearing from those interested in the continued success and growth of CISV Pittsburgh.
